3 Tips For Late Pregnancy to Have a Smoother Birth
Tips For a Smoother Birth
The final stretch of your pregnancy journey can be accompanied by feelings of excitement, anxiety, fear, and joy. These feelings can sometimes carry a heavy burden and make us feel stressed.
There are 3 things I suggest ALL of my pregnant friends and clients do in the final stretch of the pregnancy journey. They are, focusing on body-balancing movement practices, eating nourishing foods, and working on your mental wellness.
Doing these 3 things can help positively influence your physical body and your mental headspace.
You may be wondering, why is this important during the last stretch of your pregnancy.
It is important because your body HOLDS onto fear and stress. It has the potential to turn that stress into bodily tension- especially in your muscles and fascial tissues. This can make your body rigid and less likely to yield to your baby’s descent.
Nourishing foods can both fuel your body for a long labor and have a positive benefit on your uterus and cervix.
Your mind also needs to be balanced and at peace with your upcoming labor experience. Giving birth takes an extreme amount of mental fortitude- which YOU HAVE within you! You just need to know how to listen to your inner wisdom and release any tension or fear you may be holding onto.
Doing these three things can help you feel confident, and relaxed and help you release the tension of fear as you approach your Labor Day.
The Miles Circuit
Prepare your body to move freely during labor and encourage the baby into a favorable birthing position. You may have read about this circuit online, but have you had someone walk you through this before? In my 10-minute video, I offer some helpful tips to make the positions and movements of The Miles Circuit easier and more comfortable for your body.
Dates + RRL Tea
Eating dates will help make your cervix more FAVORABLE when you go into labor. Why does my cervix need to be favorable, you may ask? As your cervix naturally dilates (opens) and effaces (thins out), your body releases hormones that signal your baby to make their way down through the levels of your pelvis.
As your baby descends, they put pressure on your cervix which encourages further dilation. Having a favorable cervix is also a big part of what makes induction of labor successful. So, if you think you may be doing an induction of labor, eat those dates.
If you dislike the taste of dates, I have a date ball recipe that hides the date flavor. You can find that recipe, here. I like to suggest eating your date balls and having a cup of Red Raspberry Leaf Tea, lightly sweetened with honey. If you have dietary or other health issues that could interact with either of these foods, please run this by your prenatal provider, first.

Guided Birth Meditation
Guided Meditations with a Birth Preparation focus are going to help you mentally prepare for your Labor experience. I cannot stress enough the importance of mentally preparing your headspace for labor.
The labor dance is very much an experience in harnessing mind over matter. The power of your mind can positively or negatively affect your birth experience.
Understanding that your body needs to release to allow for the baby to descend and be birthed, takes practice.
This guided meditation will help you work on the connection of your jaw and pelvic floor. It is only 5 minutes long and the more you practice it, the stronger the connection becomes.
